Composed of four line officers and one Ordnance officer, the selection board was convened by a Special Order of the Secretary of War dated December 28, 1906. Weapons referred to the board were all of .45 caliber and included auto-loading pistols of Colt, Luger, Savage, Knoble, Bergmann, Webley-Fosbery and White-Merrill design, and double-action revolvers by Colt and Smith & Wesson
