KJW has molded the highly detailed short slide into dark gray plastic while the lower down-sized frame & grip are molded and textured in black. This is done to show material separation between the two major components where the lower frame is made entirely of plastic on the real gun. Other innovative characteristics copied from the real P-8 that can be found on the lower frame are the magazine extraction recesses at the base of the highly textured grip, ambidextrous and protected magazine release. Also, the reduced trigger guard, detailed operating levers and finally the advantage of accessory mounts up front that can actually accept real or AirSoft accessories. Operation of KJW's P-8 Compact is very close to the real firearm’s action. When the slide is worked rearward, the hammer is cocked at the rear, air piston is charged, and the trigger is set for single action with play. Upon firing the last shot, the slide locks in the rear position, readying the gun for the next quick insertion of a fresh magazine. Hitting the slide release will automatically load a new BB and the shooter can quickly continue engaging the target. The magazine itself is noteworthy with its large capacity and heavy weights added for realism and stability. The grips on this medium-powered gun are small but positive and are truly non-slipping. This is a gas gun, which means it's powered by gas and doesn't need to be cocked every time. It's fast, clean, inexpensive and easily maintained; it does not require batteries to operate.
